Born and raised in Ghana, Abigail Afriyie ventured to Chicago in the pursuit of an artistic education in fashion at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Azu print has taken on many names in its defining as a traditional Ankara print and across the African continent. In Nigeria, this fabric is called “Akpirikpa Azu”, which means fish scale.
